Yr 12: Update

As we are approaching the end of the first term of Year 12, I thought I would provide you with an update on a couple of things:
  1. Firstly, well done to those of you who met the research and planning deadline. Feedback will be emailed to you on Tuesday 29th November. If you have work outstanding, a phone call will be made this afternoon explaining that you will be required to attend catch-up sessions after school this week. Please check the Media Office door for details on when you are required to attend.
  2. If you need inspiration, excellent examples of individual blogs can be found here: Abi, Erika, Will, Oscar, Gaby
  3. Please check the Production section of the Guidance Powerpoint so that you know what you should be adding to your blog during the production process. An A Grade example of a group blog so far can be found here: A Work in Progress.
  4. You should be starting to shoot your footage in your own time now - you can only use class time to shoot if you are staying on location at school. The deadline for all of your footage to be shot is Friday 6th January.
  5. There are problems with us editing the lighting workshop in class as the files struggle to load all at the same time. Therefore you have two options; write up a post explaining what we did and what you learned with screenshots from the videos or edit a short video in your own time. If you would like to use the Green Screen, Miss M or Esen can show you how to edit this when you are ready.
  6. Theory lessons will begin on Monday 12th December and will run up until Christmas. Theory lessons will then continue in January every Friday until the Mock Exam.
  7. Please book an apppointment for Parents Evening on the 7th December. The sign up sheet is on the front door.
  8. Please also remember that you must pay for your tickets and return the reply slips for the BFI Study day ASAP!
And finally, December the 1st is 3 days away. My tree is up and my Advent Calendar is ready; so we can finally start talking about Christmas... yay!

Title Sequence Timeline

Today's Task:
  • Watch the opening sequence from a film of your choice (preferably the same genre as your treatment) on YouTube - it must have titles as part of the opening sequence.
  • Make a timeline of the titles and the order in which they go in (see examples below). There is no wrong or right way of doing this - the important thing is that you document the order and pace of the titles, as well as the types of titles that are included.
  • Photograph and post to your blog.
  • In the same blog post, answer the following questions:

1.What have you found out from doing this activity?
2. Has anything surprised you?
3. What do you notice about the style/font of the titles? How does this communicate the genre?
4. What are the titles that you will need to include in your opening sequence?

  • A Grade Extension: Complete a timeline for a second film answering the questions above and then compare. What are the similarities and differences? Why is this the case?
This should be completed and posted to your blog by the end of the lesson (Extension people can have until tomorrow).
